Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: If one has a cyst on an ovary, could the pain also be widespread throughout the stomach? The doctor said I have a cyst on my left ovary, but would that pain only be confined to the area of the cyst?

Brief Answer:
usually only in lower part of abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain due to ovarian cysts is normally felt in the lower part of the abdomen usually on the side of the cyst.
If the cyst bleeds or ruptures then the pain is more severe and widespread.

If neither of these is present (no bleeding or rupture) then it is unlikely that the pain would be felt in the entire abdomen.

If you are experiencing wide spread pain then your doctor may want to determine if there are any possible other causes.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
