Brief Answer:
It's Possible
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
It is possible to be herpes break out, however there should be skin lesions in perianal area in case if herpes so proctologist should examine this. This can be also a fissure, polyp, hemorrhoids or perianal fistula.
Exact cause should be established by rectoscopy and if herpes is confirmed, you should have antiherpetic therapy. Till then, have "sitz" baths with XXXXXXX warm water thrice daily, have stool softeners(eg. Syp Lactulose 10 ml once daily at bedtime) and take nonsteroid painkillers like Paracetamol as per need after some food(not exceeding three times daily).
Let me know if there's any further queries.
Wish you good health.
Regards

Brief Answer:
acyclovir is the only one for virus
Detailed Answer:
acyclovir is the only one effective for virus, but for pain you can use mild steroid creams (there are many with commercial names), or lidokain gel for example.
