Suggest Treatment For Pain During Urination

default
Posted on Tue, 12 May 2015
Question: I was prescribed Nitrofurantoin Mono/Mac 100mg caps 1 every 12 hours for a UTI. After 5 doses, I still had the extreme pain during urination and started a low grade fever. I was then switched to Ciprofloxacin 500mg Tablets 1 every 12 hours X 6 tabs. I have 2 tabs left, but my pain during urination has not subsided. Fever is gone though. I'm very worried this is not going to heal before May 1st, I have a Colonoscopy scheduled. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
You have acute UTI.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have acute UTI.

Please get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary
antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water. To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
