Suggest Treatment For Pain From A Torn Medial Meniscus And Arthritis Left Knee Despite Taking Steroid Injection
Question: I am 70 . I have a torn medial meniscus and arthritis left knee. I had steroid injection 1 month ago. Still sore. I have heard that Orthovisc OR Synvisc injections help . It is like an injectable jell in the knee joint. What do you think about these two treatments? Any risk? I take a blood thinner for heart issue.
Brief Answer:
Synvisc better
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
I have read your query and understood your problem.
Both Orthovisc and Synvisc are injectable Hyaluronic acid. Dose is more in Synvisc. They help to regenerate destroyed cartilage in the joint.
It is better to take Synvisc as it has higher molecular weight and can give relief longer time than Orthovisc.
It is highly advisable to get knee replacement done if there is significant arthritis.
If possible do upload your Xray.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
