Posted on Tue, 27 Jan 2015
Question: I have a painful area on one side of my lower jaw. It is tender to the touch. It hurts when I swallow or chew food. This came on suddenly about 3 days ago. No fever. No rash. Doesn't seem to be connected to a tooth. For the last couple of days it feels better in the morning but then gets progressively worse during the day.

Brief Answer:
seems like mucosal ulcer

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having pain in lower jaw.

If you have oral lesions please upload images.

As per your clinical details, it appears to be mucosal ulcer in lower alveolar ridge secondary to dentures or nutritional deficiencies. I suggest you to consult ent doctor and get detailed ENT examination, blood tests (iron, folic acid). Further treatment can be started according to the findings.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
