Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Anal Fissure

Question: 7 months ago I had an anal fissure after having anal sex performed on me. It was the worst pain of my life. I couldn't even walk. I couldn't touch my posterior lest a bolt of pain course through me. Using the restroom was a nightmare. I dreaded it.

However, I had to eventually bite the bullet and purchase Preparation H to painfully apply to my cut. After a week of doing this daily, the fissure began to finally heal. It lasted almost a month. For the 7 months after this ordeal, using the restroom was a lot easier, but there was mild pain SOMETIMES. Other times there was no pain at all. So I thought I was as close to normal again as possible. I could walk and be active again.

I have not had anal sex since then.

Yesterday, I was using the restroom. I passed my stool and I felt that sharp pain again. I feel it in the SAME spot as 7 months ago, so I believe my fissure reopened. I'm not in excruciating pain yet, but I'm afraid I will be soon. I'm going to purchase some Prep H and hope it helps again. Whereas the pain was a 10 seven months ago, it is now a 5. It's more annoying than painful right now.

Question: How can I make sure to heal this fissure PERMANENTLY??

Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern.

Anal Fissures once chronic are difficult to heal by diet and medication. You may however use topical metronidazole, Posterisone forte (Phenol:0.3%w/w, Hydrocortisone:0.25%w/w) and lidocaine. A course of Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole oral medication should also be done to help improve healing and preventing the infection process. Constipation should be avoided by using ispaghula husk and cremaffin.

A rectal exam will be needed. A lateral internal sphincterotomy or a fissurectomy is the treatment for such a case to be decided in consult with a General surgeon or Proctologist.
