Posted on Wed, 10 May 2017
Question: Hello,
I am XXXX XXXXXXX (Age-28Yrs, Male).
Since last 3-4 days, I am suffering from strange kind of pains in chest and back.
It is not continuous in nature. Chest pain is on the left side and it remains for almost 5-10 seconds and observed 8-10 times in a day. Similarly back pain is also for a very short period of 10-15 seconds and observed 9-10 times a day.
Though recent medical check-up results show that my cholesterol is well within the Safer limits, these days my lifestyles has been very unhealthy.
I need your advise ..Can this pain be due to gastric reasons or should I get it seriously checked ? If you suggest me to get it checked, please suggest which tests should I opt for ?

Brief Answer:
Explained below..

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Thanks for writing back,

From the description that you have provided, you seem to have symptoms pertaining to only gastric features and so far nothing pointing towards cardiac.

I would suggest you to do the following:

- Take Cap. PANTOCID- DSR once daily for 2 weeks.

- Consume small meals at frequent intervals rather than 3 main meals.

- Completely avoid foods that are spicy and oily, and also say 'no' to carbonated drinks.

- Always have your dinner at least 2 hours before going to bed.

- Another important factor is to reduce your weight. As per your weight and height, your BMI counts to 31.4, which falls in the obese category. You are required to engage in daily 30-45 mins of brisk walking.

If at all your symptoms seems t be worsening, I would suggest you to consult with a gastroenterologist and discuss about the options of getting an endoscopy done, so as to look for any internal pathology.

I hope this helps,

Please feel free to discuss further,

Regards
