Brief Answer:
It may be due to secondary infection or fluid in middle ear

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for choosing this platform

Ear wax when gets stucked deep inside may cause pain. But this pain is usually not severe enough as you have mentioned.
Also the blowing symptoms are unusual particularly when wax has been removed.
Sometimes when wax remains in the ear canal for long duration it may get infected and that can cause severe pain. Also there might be possibility of collection of some fluid in the middle ear called glue ear which may present with these symptoms.

Here I would suggest you to get your child reevaluated by an ENT (ear, nose, throat specialist) for direct clinical examination to rule out the possibility of infection or abnormal collection of fluid.

I won't get worried if the ENT specialist clears him as sometimes the pain may persist even after removal of wax and here symptomatic treatment like oral analgesic or ear drops helps.

Please feel free to ask any further question if you have any doubt.
Regards
