Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Finger After Injury
Question: Hello, about a week ago I was putting chairs back in place at church and hit the middle knuckle on my middle finger{right hand). I did not hit on the metal but on the cloth covered part. I am not sure if hit on the cushioned part or just cloth covered. Anyway I have a pretty darn hi tolerance to pain and this hurt like the be dickens!!!! I can not bend it but about halfway and can not straighten it all the way without pain, Some times it hurts so bad it just about takes me to my knees. I can barely touch it against anything and oh my does it hurt. What in the world did I do to it?
Brief Answer:
Get xray done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your query.
From the symptoms you are explaining it seems their occur chip fracture in finger, if I am your treating doctor I would advise you xray of hand focusing finger in AP and oblique view.
So get it done and send me the report.
Till then don't bend it.
Apply hot packs.
Have tab aceclofenac100mg +serratiopeptidase15mg thrice a day by prescription of your doctor as this medicine is not over the counter.
I also advise you to visit orthopedic surgeon and discuss all that with him, if needed he may apply pop slab or k wire fixation if needed.
I hope you got the answer.
Thanks,

Hi, I have provided some attachments. Please review them.
Brief Answer:
No fracture visible.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the response.
In xrays which you have attached there is no fracture visible, sometimes hair line fracture are not detected on simple X-rays, but definitely soft tissue injury is there, so I advice you to have plaster of paris (POP) cast application.
POP cast application will provide rest to the hand and thus help in healing faster.
You must visit orthopedic surgeon, he will do local examination which is also necessary (because your treatment is incomplete without having local examination) and discuss all with him also, there is no need of K-wire fixation.
Till then keep on taking medication as advised previously.
Give rest to your affected hand and do not bend it.
I hope you got the answer.
Thanks,
Dr.Chander Mohan Singh.
