Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Hip Joint
Question: I started feeling pain in my joint on the left hip, now it has increased to my hip and the top of my thigh, like cramping and burning. What is this?
Brief Answer:
Meralgia paresthetica and arthritis of hip joint to consider.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
First condition to consider in your case is meralgia paresthetica, a condition caused by compression of a sensory branch of the femoral nerve that supplies an area of the thigh.
Second condition to consider in your case is hip joint (cocxofemoral) arthritis.
It is necessary to get evaluated by your primary care Doctor about these conditions.
X-rays of the left hip joint in two projections is also necessary.
Treatment depends on the diagnosis.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards.

The problem is that I don't currently have health insurance and simply can't afford to pay out of pocket at this time. I bought some, Bengay, a heating pad and magnesium supplements, as well as Advil. Is there ANYTHING else that you can suggest I do to subside the symptoms? It seems that that during the day, it is manageable (but still very achy) while I am walling around... But it is extremely painful at night while trying to sleep and excruciating in the morning...so much so, that I considered going to the hospital... but again, can't afford that expense..
Brief Answer:
Treatment possibilities explained below.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Advil may work in improving symptoms for both conditions, Bengay also may be beneficial to be used locally.
I'm not sure about the heating pad, you should try it, if it relieves your symptoms you should continue heat pad too.
You should wear loose clothing and don't use any belts.
Avoid weights as much as possible.
Short term use of Amitryptilin before sleep (10 mg) as an antineuralgic should help also with exacerbated night symptoms (please obtain the necessary prescription from your local physician).
Hope this helps. Feel free to discuss further.
Take care.
