Hey Alisonfenley
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
How was your day?
Hope this message finds you in good health.
I have gone through your query in detail and understand your concern.
If the job you do,needs sitting at the desk all day, then costochondritis pain can flare up definitely.
for immediate relief ,you can take analgesic, anti inflammatory tablets.
local gel /sprays with hot fomentation can work.
But ,these are temporary measures and the cause of costochondritis needs to be found out. You are still very young and should not be having this.
Regarding precautions,Using a rib belt around the affected ribs will provide much of a relief to you. You need to wear it during work, and remove it when you sleep.
avoid sitting in the same position for long time.
Instead try changing positions,or do simple stretching exercises every hourly, whenever you get time.
I hope your question has been answered.

How do i go about finding out what is causing it?
Over the past 2.5years i have seen several different drs about the pain.
Nobody has been able to formally diagnose me.
X ray clear, ultra sound clear, blood tests ok, so all i have had done is they press on my rib where it hurts and. Thats it
need an ct or mri
Detailed Answer:
Hi Alisonfenley
Welcome back
Well, Xray and ultrasound mostly wont show any soft tissue pathology. Ideally a CT scan or Am MRI of that part will be better to show all the details related to the bone, cartilage and all the soft tissues.
If possible, do get these investigations done so that we can find out whats causing it and thereby cure it completely.
do let me know when the reports are done or drop your e-mail id here, so that i shall give you a reminder for the same.
I hope your question has been answered.
