Do you think it is possible i have a fungus?
And what can I do about it?
Doesn't seem like a fungus infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello ! Thank you for asking HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your question and I understand your concern.
It would be better if you could send a clear picture of your finger to have a look . You can simply upload/attach it at the reports section of this web-page.
You've written that you don't have any discoloration in your nail only just lifted up.
If you don't have these changes it's not fungus:
Typically, a fungus infection ( onychomycosis ) the nail of the finger has discoloration (white color or yellow ) ,
is thick ( give you impression like it is-- lifted but is just thick). In this case you should avoid any undue moisture in your toe and use light-fit shoes .
For treatment you could use Ciclopirox olanine 8% nail lacquer solution once /day for 48weeks.
In your case, it could be a trauma of your toenail , you should cut the nail carefully don't allow the nail to be long so it can not catch the sock or the shoes .Also the sides of the nail ,cut it in a way that can't penetrate inside the skin ( it's painful when the nail penetrate the skin).
Keep it clean and dry , wear shoes that give the nail space to "breath", avoid chemical use.
If your still have pain or the nail gets worse you should be seen by a local physician ( for a detailed physical examination )
Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if you have any further clarifications.
Take Care !
