Suggest Treatment For Pain On Knees

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Sep 2014
Question: I tripped and flew forward and landed on my knees. I have burns from the friction. My right knee took most of the impact. It is bruised over the whole knee cap. Painful to put weight on it and to bend. I have a lump on the top of the patella. Should I be worried? This happened last Thursday morning.

Brief Answer:
Need not be worried much

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HCM.

As you describe,it seems like you got a minor contusion, along with skin abrasion at the site.
I think, you just need to take some analgesics like ibuprofen 400 mg three times daily for 3-5 days(I guess you have no active peptic ulcer disease). Also, keep the abraded area clean and dry-apply some antibiotic creams like povidone iodine locally.
Usually, this will take care of the situation in about 5 days.
If the pain does not come down by first 2 days of this supportive care, kindly see your doctor,as we have to rule out any minor bone/ligament injury, and treat accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Thank you.
