default
Posted on Tue, 8 Jul 2014
Question: I have Arthritis in my hips and shoulders and I take Lyrica 50mg for this pain but for a while now I also have pain in my thigh muscles and upper left arm. It feels like I am pushing through a weight in front of my thighs and my arm cannot stay up when I am lifting a heavy pot or if I move it a certain way. I would like to know is this connected to my Arthritis or something different. If it is I would like to know what I can do about it.I also suffer with Fibromyalgia which I have only ever been given painkillers for. Hope u can help me. Thanks

Brief Answer:
I will advise you to do MRI whole spine screening.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.
Due to compression of spinal nerve root there can be pain in your thigh and arm.

I will advise you to do MRI whole spine screening.
For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic [pregabalin] medication can be started consulting your doctor.
Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

Fibromyalgia can not be totally cured, you can only minimise symptoms by taking various medications. As you are taking amitryptiline you can use duloxetin consulting you’re treating doctor.

Exercises and stretches plays important role in maintaining symptoms of fibromyalgia

Physiotherapy like ultrasound and tens will help, along with joint exercises.

A holistic approach is required, which includes exercises, meditation, SKY [sudarshan XXXXXXX yoga] and acupuncture along with healthy diet and herbs.

I had a MRI scan in 2013 and they told me I had very bad Arthritis in my shoulder, with the right side being especially bad but most of my pain is in left side. Dr did not say I had spinal compression or what to do as he was only looking at my Disc that he had operated on in 1996. He was pleased with that site but told me to go to my Dr which I did but I got nothing but painkillers. Is the spinal compression from my neck? as I have very shortened movement there. Is my problem due to Fibromyalgia or Arthritis? thank you

Explained below

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

As you said your MRI was normal indicates that there may not be any cord compression in neck.

I can tell you its arthritis or not if you send your x ray images on my profile.
