Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: I just had a flu and currently taking antibiotics for bronchitis. Yesterday I started getting constant pain under my right rib cage, is this something I should be concerned about? I have taken Motrin for the discomfort, are there other treatments to Help resolve the pain? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Pneumonia needs to be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:

Hello XXXX

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

Pain in the ribcage while one is suffering from flu should not be ignored. It may be nothing but sometimes flu can travel down to lungs and cause pneumonia. Hence I suggest that you get a chest x ray and blood count done to rule it out.

If it turns out to be fine then there is nothing to worry and you may continue with flu medicines prescribed by your doctor.
