Brief Answer:
Fracture is not healed.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
The fractured small fragment of proximal phalanx has not healed and is separate from the bone. This can cause the pain that you are having.
The fragment can be fixed surgically. It can be done with a small surgery. There is no need to worry much.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

1) can the surgury be done with local anastetic? I am on Cortef and local would be better.
2) would the bone fragment just be removed?
3) how long would I have to take off work, I have an office job that requires some lifting of boxes, walking 5000 steps a day.
4) if I chose not to have surgury, and just live with pain every time I step, will the pain get worse as I age? The pain has already radiated to my knee and hip, is that the extent of the injury or will it progress?

2. Yes. It can simply be removed.
3. You will have to be off the work for at least 2 weeks. It is better to take a desk job for a few days.
4. The pain may get worse if surgery is not done.
