Brief Answer:
Further consultation with general surgeon is neede

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I am sorry for the situation your husband is in.

Hernia is not a serious condition but need appropriate medical attention and care. Hernia occurs when a part of intestines is getting into a place of abdominal wall that is weakened.

It can be perfectly treated through:
- surgery (during which supportive nest are placed at the place where hernia is)
- wearing belly supportive clothing. The aim is to strengthen the abdominal muscles to avoid hernia. If no success, should go for surgery. Abdominal surgeon will decide after deep evaluation.

It is great that your husband is not having pain now. This makes it easier to get it treated definitely reducing the chances for relapse.

He needs to get checked by a general surgeon for further evaluation.

All the best!

Brief Answer:
Schedule an appointment with general surgeon....

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXXXXX

If he gets severe pain, then, should run to clinic for further evaluation. Sometimes, intestines are stuck, and strangulation occur. Although it rarely occurs, it might be serious. This is not to frighten you but to make you realize about his current condition and take proper measures in time.

To my opinion, schedule an appointment with surgeon although he is not in pain to be sure he has nothing worrisome.

Wish fast recovery! Do not forget to close this discussion if you do not have any more questions!
