Posted on Fri, 22 Jan 2016
Question: Hi, I have a moveable painless lump behind my penis near the urethra on the left side half way down. It feels like it's not attached to penis but in the middle of skin and urethra? It goes harder when I have erection. Anything to be concerned about? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Could be a Sebaceous Cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have painless movable lump on shaft of the penis .This is most likely to be a Sebaceous Cyst

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Since how long you have this lump ?
2) Can you see (Punctum) tiny opening or dot on the summit of lump ?
3) Is there any discharge from the lump?

The penile skin is rich in sebaceous glands and hence prone to get sebaceous cyst due to accumulation of sebum beneath the skin.

Normally it fades away without treatment however and need to be treated if increases in size or gets infected.

Please consult qualified General Surgeon for clinical evaluation and further treatment.

If needed it may need to get excised in Toto (Completely along with the sac).

This is a simple surgery done under local anaesthesia as a out patient procedure and offers permanent cure .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Hi, thanks for the reply! I would say i noticed it around 6 weeks ago. I think it's gone slightly bigger. It's shaped like a piece of rice, if you know what I mean. There is no opening, puss coming out because it's fully inside. When I squeeze it to the top of my penis it's just skin colour. Does antibiotics get rid of cysts?
