Question: I have had some pain and swelling in my right knee. Today it ballooned up like a football and is quite painful. I've never had anything like this before and it is of great concern. Can you help me please? XXXXXXX XXXX

Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
This is called acute synovitis Knee. Start pain killers , hot fomentation, local analgesic cream and a knee support. Get an X ray of the knee. If swelling is large , it might require removal of fluid from knee joint .
