Suggest Treatment For Palpitations After Alcohol Intake
Question: I drank 4 Red Bull's mixed drinks last night my heart is racing how do I slow it down
Brief Answer:
What is the heart rate
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome.
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
I expect that the tachycardia you are having is sinus tachycardia which is due to increased sympathetic activity due to drink + red bull.
Still please tell me what is the approximate heart rate by counting the pulse.
Alcohol & red bull will gradually wash out from bidy & heart rate will settle down. Drink a lot of water to flush it out.
The sympathetic activity could also be lowered by massaging the carotid bulb in the neck where pulsation is maximum just beside the cricoid cartilage. But you should do this only in presence of someone as it can cause syncope.
Get some sleep & you will be fine.
Thanks & take care
