Suggest Treatment For Palpitations And Breathlessness
Question: My wife (60) keeps good health (no personal history, but IHD runs in the family) and walks fairly regularly for 30 to 40 minutes in the mornings. But her heart beats harder and she gets breathless when she has to walk on an incline. Does she need to see a doctor?
Brief Answer:
Get a stress echo done
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr Raghvinder,
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist from Fortis Hospital.
Breathlessness on exertion can be a sign of heart disease. As she has a family history of IHD, it is always better for such persons to get evaluated for the risk evaluation of heart disease. As she is also 60yrs old, I'll recommend a stress echo for her which will tell the risk of getting a heart disease in future. If it is negative, than the risk is very low.
I hope i answered your query, if you have any more questions, I'll be happy to help.
Thanks
Take care
