Question: My 15 yr. old son has a hematoma in his belly button. He has an "inney " belly button. It only hurts when he bends over. To look at it, it looks like a huge pimple..... The size a pea. If you use a q-tip around it... It leaks a bit of pus. What do I do about it?

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The area needs to be examined and the pus or discharge needs to be cultured. If there is evidence of vascular compromise then surgical intervention would be necessary. In the meanwhile your doctor can advise, topical fusidic acid plus oral antibiotics if the infection fails to resolve.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
