Question: This is regarding my newborn baby (0.3 months).
There is a cyst on his pennies side(left), above the testicles, which we found yesterday.
slightly dark in colour

Is it something serious that I need to worry about it. Or a consultation required?

Brief Answer:
could be infection or chemical rash

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Can you send a picture if possible?
Is the skin around the cyst normal or red?
Any other spots anywhere?
Is it painful to touch?
There are two possibilities
1. Infection - will settle with local antiseptics.
2. Allergic - like diaper rash. Can be settled with local emollient like calamine lotion

Thanks Doctor,
I don't think, he has any pain on that area.
I'm attaching 2 pictures here.
The skin around is normal. This cyst is similar to testicles.

Brief Answer:
looks like hydrocoel of spermatic cord

Detailed Answer:
The image looks like a hydrocoel of the spermatic cord.
This is a fluid collection in the cord which suspends testicle from abdomen.
This needs confirmation by ultrasound scrotum.
If confirmed only surgery can relieve the swelling.
If only on the skin it may settle with local antiseptics.
But looks more like hydrocoel.
Nothing serious but needs ultrasound.

If it is hydrocoel of the spermatic cord, do we need to go for immediate surgery?

Thank you so much.

Best regards!
