Answered by Dr. Ajay Panwar (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Antineuralgic medicines/Evaluation for cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.

In broader sense, the antineuralgic medicines like Pregabalin, Duloxetine or Amitriptyline are given for treatment of neuropathy. In addition, methylcobalamin supplementation is usually given.Further, proper treatment depends on the cause of neuropathy. So, a proper evaluation for neuropathy should be done including Nerve conduction studies, blood sugar, vitamin B12 and other tests if these come out to be normal.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Could you explain this to me in my non-medical language. What is a
methylcobalamin supplement? Are the medications you listed something I can
talk to my physician about...Pregabalin, Duloxetine, Amitriptyline? What do these medications do for peripheral neuropathy? Is Lyrica a suggested form of treatment
for this diagnosis?

Thank you,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes, Lyrica is a first line drug for peripheral neuropathy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Yes, Lyrica is used for treatment of the same. Of course, you can discuss with your doctor about these medicines, however, if Lyrica is working fine, you should continue with the same.

Methylcobalamin supplement means vitamin B12 tablets as they are useful in treating peripheral neuropathy. These medicines gradually improve nerve damage.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
