Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern for your friend.
I really feel extremely sorry to state that there is nothing else other than chemotherapy can be done for this condition as part of treatment, since it is an advanced stage.
Loss of weight and appetite are hall marks of this disease.
Peritoneal mesothelioma is caused by asbestos and is one of the rarest type of malignancy. It has a very poor prognosis and only 40% people survive beyond one year.
This survival rate falls further to 20% in second year and just 8 % after three years.
Very frankly speaking only nursing and chemotherapy is left for him.
I am sorry to state that nothing concrete can be done now.
Best of luck to him.
You are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Thanks
Proton therapy can be tried although there is not much available data regarding its effect because it has not undergone an extensive or rigorous study, the way a cancer treatment should have undergone.
Moreover it is very expensive also.
You may discuss about it with the treating doctor and seek his opinion.
Thanks
