Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cold And Cough

Vasovagal syncope
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query today.
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.
Your symptoms indicate a vasovagal attack.
This is not worrisome but I suggest a consult with your doctor just to make sure nothing else is wrong.
A vasovagal attack is when the VAGAL nerve is stimulated by coughing, sneezing, severe nasal congestion and other mechanics. Thus reduces your heart rate enough to make you pass out. One the stimulus is over the heart recovers and you are back to normal.
I recommend :
-a physician consult, a neurologist consult (if necessary)
-an electrocardiogram. Echocardiogram if required to check for mechanical function of the heart.
-a complete neurological exam.
-steam Inhalations thrice a day.
-avoid cold foods and liquids. Drink plenty of water. (speak to your doctor first before doing this to make sure you don't need water restriction)
Take rest and stay hydrated.
Please see your doctor ASAP to make sure that the passing out was not due to any other medical problem.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health.
Kind regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
