Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough
Question: Hi,
My father is having persistent cough from past 1-2 months.
Sometime its controlled by cough syrup or similar medication but again resume.
Please suggest in which direction we should go

You have not mentioned many a things about the cough.
Is the cough dry or has sputum in It?Is there any breathless and wheezing? Is he allergic to dust and smoke or anything else? Is there any accompanying fever?Is he a smoker?Is he taking any BP medicines and if yes - which one?
From the description I presume that it could be allergic cough. Let him take a montair lc tablet and a pan 40 tablet daily. He can also take aerocort inhaler 2 puffs twice daily. He should avoid dust/ smoke and very cold climate. No smoking also if he Is a smoker.
