Suggest Treatment For Persistent Diarrhea After Taking Pepto Bismol
Question: I have had diarrhea for 4 days. Today my blood pressure was low early in the day 83/60 (I normally have 110/70). I started drinking plenty of water and had something to eat and my blood pressure went up to 108/70. I had some vegetable soup and took pepto bismal later in the day. A few hours later my diarrhea started being black. Before it had been yellowish. I have been drinking juice and trying to eat more food that has potassium in it this afternoon; but, there has been no change. I thought I would go to the doctor tomorrow if it persists. Is this okay?
Brief answer.....there is nothing to worry
Detailed answer.....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
As far as diarrhea is concerned,it shall be all right in next few days because in general diarrhea is caused by viral infection which is a self limiting problem.
Carry on with plenty of water, fruit juices, fruits etc.
The main worrying point for you is the dark stool.
There is nothing to worry regarding this as it is caused by pepto bismol.
Pepto bismol is known to cause black stools.
Colour of stool will return to normal on stopping pepto bismol.
I hope it helps,
however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
