Suggest Treatment For Persistent Diarrhea In An Infant
My baby is 3 months old. She is crying from Stomach ache, Gas Problem & loose motion for the past 1 1/2 months. B'cos of continuous loose motion, she has got wound in her buttocks and cries a lot. Doctor has suggested to stop mother feed for few days and to give Isomil. Now, her loose motion has stopped but when i start feeding her, again loose motion starts and the wound also is forming quickly. Doctor has asked to stop my milk and to give only Isomil. Is there a way to stop this loose motion with my milk? Can i try colic aid? will it stop loose motion and gas problem? Pl. help me. I want to feed my baby with my milk only.
Thanks

Probably it is temporary lactase deficiency.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
When baby suffers from persistent diarrhea the brush border epithelium of the small intestines which produces lactase enzyme is destroyed leading to lactase deficiency.
This can be confirmed by stool examination for reducing sugars.
Once the diarrhea is controlled the epithelium gets repaired within 10 days.
Latter you may revert back to breast feeding as usual.
Zn-20 syrup 10 mg /day for 14 days helps in hastening the recovery.
Colicaid drops give relief from gas problem and pain abdomen.
Wound around buttocks will disappear once the diarrhea is controlled.
You may apply Rashfree ointment for temporary relief.
For the time being as per doctor's advice please stick on to Isomyl.

As per Doctor's advice, I'd been giving only Isomil for the past 4 days. In the mean time, She has also got Urinary Infection (Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Colony Count: >1,00,000 cfu/ml) which was confirmed by Urine Culture. Doctor has given Septran suspension for 7 days.
Can I give Colic Aid along with this Antibiotic medicine?
Is there any diet restrictions which i need to follow to feed her for her diarrhea and gas problems?
Thanks & Regards

I need to know if there is any diet restriction which i need to follow for me (not for my baby, as i think my diet also affects my baby, we are non-vegeterian) to feed my milk to her after 10 days.

No special restrictions for mother's diet.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for asking another follow up question on health care magic.
Nursing mother's have no restrictions on their diet whether veg or non veg.
certain drugs and diseases will have deleterious effects on the baby taking breast feeding.
You can safely feed your baby without fear once diarrhea is controlled and the intestinal mucous membrane is repaired.
