Suggest Treatment For Persistent Fever In A Child
Question: Hi doctor,
My 11 months old baby was having fever since last 4-5 days. We started giving her ofloxacin 2 days back. Now the fever is not there.
There is pulse polio drive today. Considering that the baby is still on antibiotics, shall we give her pulse polio drops or skip it this time? She was given polio drops on 20th January 2017. Please advise.
Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Polio vaccine can be given safely
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
Polio vaccine can be safely given to children with mild cough, cold, fever and loose stool..
It has no interaction with any antibiotic or other regular medications. Polio vaccination should be given to all children below 5 years of age on every pulse polio drive irrespective of previous vaccination status.
So I would recommend you to go for polio vaccination.
