Suggest Treatment For Persistent Oral Thrush And Rashes Around Urethral Opening

Question: Hi

6 months ago i went to visit my local GP with the symptoms of thrush [ which my partner she also had ].
after a examination we were not to be alarmed it has not signs of STI and told just to use the over the counter treatment for thrush which worked for her but not so much me.
My symptoms seem to still come and go. the thrush symptoms did seem to reside but i did develop a redness like rash around the opening to my Urethra, which flares up from time to time. with the redness spreading around front
and underside of the forskin which has contact with the gland. This would flare up for a couple of days then reside back to a mild red rash. I went back to my GP on 2 occasion’s with my concerns around this but got told to just relax its normal & i need to stop stressing [ both times i did go it was at its mildest stage’s which also seems to be the case ] .

I have thought it could be a case of balantitis or psorisis [ only by looking on the internet ]& even mentioned this but he told me to stop be silly & relax.

Over the 2-3 weeks i have noticed the rash has spread lower down the gland of my penis with larger
red rash spots which flare up from time to time every 3 days go for a day then flare up again.

I really need some help or a second opinion as the local is to expensive to have a visit that is time wasting.

Thanks for your help

Brief Answer:
Need to take treatment after proper evaluation .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you had symptoms of genital fungal infection and was treated with anti fungal medication available over the pharmacy counter .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have any urinary symptoms lke burning ,frequency .any discharge from penis ?
2) Are you diabetic?

The spread of infection or recurrence of infection suggest that it has not been eradicated completely and needs to be diagnosed by doing following test
1) Swab test and culture of a fluid from the site of lesion
2) Blood sugar levels to rule out Diabetes

In the mean while take antibiotics like combination of Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim (Bactrim)with anti fungal medication like Fluconazole twice daily orally along with topical anti fungal medication like Candid cream for local application over affected area .

The fungal infection is known for relapse and recurrence hence one has to take medications for 4 weeks to eradicate it completely .

Ensure to wash your genitals with warm water twice daily.

Ensure to avoid sexual encounters till it heals up completely.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
