Suggest Treatment For Persistent Runny Nose
Question: I have had a very runny nose for last week. Taken cold tablets, water and Nasel spray that only seems to last a few hours. What should I do?
Brief Answer:
antihistamines and nasal steroids
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
If the runny nose is from a cold virus then it will resolve on its own in another week or so.
If it is from allergies then you may need treatment. The two treatments that are most commonly used are a long lasting antihistamine like loratadine and nasal steroid sprays. You can buy loratadine over the counter but would need a prescription for the nasal steroid.
Nasal saline sprays which are also over the counter may help to some extent by flushing out allergens.
I hope you get some relief soon,
Regards,
