Suggest Treatment For Persistent Stomach Ache And Vomiting With Fever

Seems to be an episode of gastroenteritis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Don't worry. Most likely reasons for such complaints in kids are:
1. Food poisoning due to ingestion of contaminated food products.
2. Gastroenteritis due to gut infection by bacteria, virus or parasites.
3. An episode of appendicitis, pancreatitis, urinary tract infection etc.
Kindly provide me the following information, so that I can suggest you the most probable diagnosis and required treatment:
- what is the type of pain- burning, dull aching, colicky or severe sharp localised
- most tender location on abdomen. You may describe it with relation to the navel.
- how are bowel and bladder habits. Any associated symptoms.
- Are vomiting episodes persistent or not.
For symptomatic management, you may give:
1. Syp. Domperidone or ondansetrone for vomiting relief.
2. Acetaminophen will help to relieve fever spikes. In case fever doesn't respond, you may give Syp. Mefenemic acid.
3. If she is stable, give her regular feeds and rehydration therapy such as lemonade, soups, buttermilk etc
Wishing a good health for your child.
Take care

Most likely an episode of gastroenteritis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the reply. It seems to be more like a gastroenteritis episode. I would recommend the following measures for relief:
1. Start her on Ofloxacin-ornidazole combination drug for 3 days. It will treat bacterial and parasitic infection if present.
2. Fever will most likely respond to Acetaminophen or Mefenemic acid as I suggested previously. You may repeat the dose after 6-8 hours if required. Also, sponging will be useful.
3. You may give Dicyclomine for stomach pain. But do not give more than 3 doses in a day.
4. Regular feeding and rehydration therapy to prevent dehydration will be useful.
In case, she doesn't improve in next 48 hours or the symptoms worsen, then visit a pediatrician for complete examination and assessment. An ultrasound abdomen may be useful then.
Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care

Try Mefenamic acid for fever
Detailed Answer:
Hi
You may try Mefenamic acid for fever spikes. It's an effective way of treating fever spikes not responding to Acetaminophen.
For Vomiting episodes give Ondansetrone every 8 hourly along with antacids such as Ranitidine or Lansoprazole.
In case, she doesn't respond then injectable drugs may be required after complete physical examination by a pediatrician.
Hopefully this will help her and she will be fine.
Take care
