Question: Hi my daughter went to the doctors today and he said she has pharyngitis. He told her to rest and drink plenty of fluids. She is 13 and has stomach pains, high temperature and being sick. It has now been 4hrs since seeing the doctor and she is still being sick every 20/30 mins and cannot keep anything down not even water or even ice. I am now getting really concerned. Is this normal and is there anything that can be done to stop her from vomiting?

Brief Answer:
try ondansetron

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Usually pharyngitis will last 3 to 5 days.
If your doctor has examined today and found nothing alarming don't worry.
Viral infection can result in vomiting.
I usually prescribe ondansetron 4mg thrice a day to control vomiting for such patients in my clinic.
If still not improving you need to consult your doctor again.
There is a chance of strep infection of throat which may need throat swab and antibiotics if confirmed.
Continue giving her liquids.
Wishing your child good health.

Dr Arun

Brief Answer:
Need prescription but check out

Detailed Answer:
I am from XXXXXXX It's available Otc here
I think you need prescription in UK.
But check with your local pharmacy. If not available try any Otc anti-emetic available for time being till you get prescription.
