Suggest Treatment For Pimple And Itchy Infection On Forehead

Question: Hi, I had a boil on my forehead that popped and drained a week ago. I was prescribed doxycycline and mupirocin. It seems healed but there is still hard lump where infection was and it itches from time to time. Just wondering if this is part of healing process or something else. Wondering how long it will take to disappear? What is it-scar tissue?
Brief Answer:
Seems to be part of wound healing process
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.
I have taken note of your query and I have understood it.
The bump/ swelling that you feel is probably due to fresh granulation tissue and inflammation that accompanies wound healing and that should resolve spontaneously as the granulation tissue would organize over the next few days.
However, I request you to upload an Image so that I am able to review it visually.
You may upload an Image either at "Reports Section"
Or
You may also mail me the Image at YYYY@YYYY . Kindly mention the subject of this mail as Attn:Dr. Kakkar.

Hi, I just uploaded photo to reports section. Let me know your thoughts
Brief Answer:
I duggest a week of oral antibiotic from penicillon gr. of antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I have reviewed the image.
The bump is red and is too large to call it as resolving even after a week of doxycycline, considering that it was just a boil initially.
I feel there is still some infection that is persisting in there
Or else this was a cyst to start with which subsequently became infected, swollen and painful.
In any case since this still looks imflammed and therefore I suggest you to take another week of oral antibiotic.
My choice would be either flucloxacillin Or Amoxycillin Or cephalexin for a week rather than doxycycline.
Topicslly you may continue with the antibiotic cream.
