Suggest Treatment For Pimples On Face And Head Of Child
I am a first time father for a girl child who is 5 months old, our baby is having small red pimple kind of stuff on her head and face, they disappear in 2 days but they keep coming back, the local Dr had given Dvion and mentioned to give this for one year which is a supplement for Vit-D and suggested not take her out in the sun during early hours which is a usual practice in our region. We stopped giving Dvion a couple of days back, so are these pimples due to stopping the medication?
Is providing supplement instead of natural sunlight correct?
Another issue is that she is suffering from dehydration and vomiting also yesterday, please suggest.
The vit D supplement is required
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
It's true that our body synthesizes Vit D with the help of sun light. But it has been seen that even after exposure of sunlight the baby can develop vit D deficiency. The XXXXXXX academy of pediatrics and XXXXXXX academy of pediatrics has recommended vit D supplementation till one year of age.
So it is better to supplement vit D.
The off and on rash on face may be due to many reason. One of which is allergic skin reaction. It does not need any treatment unless it is persistent or extensive.
I would like to know whether he is suffering from seborrhea of scalp as seborrhea is common cause of rash on face. The rash has no relation to stopping of vit supplementation.
Please upload a photo of the rash so that I am better able to help.
You have also mentioned the vomiting and dehydration. Give her antiemetic drops(domperidone) along with adequate amount of fluids.Continue feeding.
The dehydration is best assessed by decreased urinary frequency and decreased activity of the baby.
If you notice any of these consult your physician immediately.
I will be glad to answer if you have any further query
