Suggest Treatment For Pimples On The Face
Question: My complexion is very dark and pimply.once doctor suggested me melalite, deriva cms and acnestar. I am using all these creams for many years. My skin became gud. But after sometime the effects were not so gud.so 6 months back I started using momate cream along with deriva cms and. Melalite. Again I got gud and lighter skin. But few months back regularly I am facing heavy pimples problem with black mark so much and so many dark shades on my skin also. I think these are side effects of momate cream. So plz suggest me some gud cream to get fair lighter and smooth and pimples free skin without dark shades. And I want to continue deriva cms and melalite also.so plzzzz suggest me a gud cream.And tell me that I can continue deriva cms and melalite or not.. And plz tell me is cosglow gel a gud cream for my problem in place of momate along with deriva cms and melalite. I can get a fair and glowing and smooth and pimples free skin without black shades using cosglow gel, deriva cms and melalite. Or suggest me some better cream.

I am Dr. Kakkar (Dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
You should not have used momate cream on face. It is a steroid cream (contains mometasone furoate 0.1% which is a moderately potent topical steroid) and should not be used on face for more than 2-4 weeks and never for postacne dark spots Or for dark complexion. Prolonged use of topical steroids can not only cause more acne but also other side effects like skin thinning, flushing and redness, photosensitivity, facial hair etc. Some of the Melalite products range also has a steroid content in it (mometasone furoate 0.1% along with hydroquinone and tretinoin) therefore kindly check the ingredients of this cream and if it has a steroid content then please discontinue melalite cream as well.
For your acne I would suggest an oral antibiotic e.g doxycycline or azithromycin or lymecycline for at least 3-4 weeks or even longer, if required.
Deriva CMS gel is fine. You may continue with its application once every night. It contains Adapalene 0.1% and Clindamycin 1% in a gel base which is a good combination to use in all grades of inflammatory acne. At daytime you may use benzoyl peroxide gel 2.5% over active acne lesions. Besides these oral and topical antiacne treatment you may take a few sessions (4-6) of salicylic acid chemical peeling, once every 2-3 weeks. It would help resolve your acne faster and would also help reduce dark spots of acne.
Once your acne is under control you may then use a cream for dark postacne spots and uneven skin complexion. Cosglo gel is a good option. You may use it twice daily. Other options for reducing dark postacne spots and for improving complexion include a cream combination containing hydroquinone, kojic acid, glycolic acid. These are prescription products and should always be used under supervision and regular follow up of a dermatologist.
Besides you may also take a few sessions of glycolic acid chemical peel from a dermatologist for reducing the dark postacne spots and for improving complexion.

Hello doctor I want to ask dat if I go for laser treatment for fairness how much time it would take.And to what degree I could make myself fair. And I have a function in my family in last October. But my doctor has told me for 6 session to be completed to see a gud result. But I don't have that much time. Only 2 session I will take before function. Q switched laser is used these days by dermatologist for lightening skin tone. It is the same laser that is used for tattoo removal or nevus removal and targets mekanocytes- the pigment cells in the skin.
You can go for this laser treatment. Yes it would take a few laser sittings for a good response but you can expect noticeable improvement with each sitting. Personally i don't recommend laser for lightening of skin tone because the results are not permanent and you would require maintenance sittings.
