Suggest Treatment For Pin Worm Infection
Question: I just found out I have pinworms, and I am assuming I got it from my children. I have no idea if they have it. My question is, I have a five month old nursing son. What do I do for him? Can he take medicine with us?
Brief Answer:
yes absolutely
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Pin worm or enterobius infection is the commonest worm infestation. Usually kids get it and even adults, either directly from foods like salads, etc or from their kids.
Albendazole is the medicine for it.
Dose for adults is one full chewable tablet at night. Second dose after 10 days.
Dose for your 5 month old is 5ml syrup albendazole two doses 10 days apart.
All the family members have to be dewormed simultaneously.
Hand washing and cleaning or peeling fruits and vegetables will prevent recurrences.
