Question: I recently had pink eye after getting over an upper respiratory infection. the pink eye happened on 2/25/15 at work. I work at a call center was rubbing my eye and it started to leak what stuff without being pink. Now my eyes starting to feel back to normal. Every now and then a little piece of the discharge that was in my eye would appear if I put drops in it or have just got done sleeping. the doctor told me it was bacterial and gave me some eye drops. I recently got tested for std's I've showed no symptoms, but I'm scared because pink eye can be a sign of other things to come. What is your opinion? I have allergies to and sometimes I will start coughing out of nowhere, please help

Brief Answer:
Pink eye in your case is not related to sexually transmitted infections.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you had pink eye following respiratory tract infection. The presence of discharge from the eye indicate chronic nature of the infection and requires use of antibiotic eye drops. Usually I prefer to use antibiotic eye drops like Moxifloxacin eye drops.

In allergic conditions it is common to have cough and this can be treated by avoiding the allergen and by the use of anti-allergic drugs.

Pink eye is not related to sexually transmitted infections, hence no need to be worried.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
