Suggest Treatment For Plugged Ears When Suffering From Cold
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have a cold and my left ear has been plugged for 2 days and I can feel my pulse beating in my head . It is really annoying and miserable, how can I get rid of it?
Brief Answer:
You can try some decongestants
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
ear fullness is a common complaint during the course of common cold and other similar upper respiratory infections. You can try a decongestant which will help make the eustachian tube patent again. If this doesn't work or you've got fever, discharge coming out of the ear canal or serious hearing compromise, you should visit an ear-nose-throat (ENT) specialist at once.
I hope you'll find my advice helpful!
If you'd like more information, please let me know.
Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
It should have been releaved by now
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
5 days under treatment with the decongestant should have releaved the symptoms or at least forbid the symptoms to be constant. As I've pointed out in my previous answer, it would be better if you had a clinical encounter with an ENT specialist. Meanwhile you can help your ear get better by lying on the affected side (when sleeping) and by tilting your head to the affected side when standing and jumping a little. You could also try an antihistamine (if it was not contained in the syrup). Why not use a nasal spray with decongestant and corticosteroids. It wouldn't be absorbed that much so you wouldn't have systemic effects like with the syrup.
I hope you get better soon. If you'd like me to clarify anything, please let me know.
Kind Regards!
