Brief Answer:
Kidney cyst as in your case is not harmful, details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Many patients come to me for ultrasound regularly and the finding of a cyst as described by you is commonly seen.

A cyst in kidney is a balloon like fluid filled structure. It is most likely that your cyst is a simple one. If the cyst was more than 3 cm in diameter then there was a bit of a concern. Since it is 1.5 x 1.4 cm therefore there is no immediate concern. It might be considered a finding that increases with advancing age. Therefore you should not worry for a cyst and when you get another ultrasound scan for kidney stones, you can get the cyst measured again. In most cases the cyst will not grow. Your cyst is small and will not cause any problems. No medication is required to be taken for the cyst in left kidney.

The stones in your kidneys are also small and not causing any obstruction at present and does not require any specific medication in the absence of any symptoms. However you might choose to follow instructions below to avoid any more stones in your kidneys and to cause the stone to disappear.

DOs for kidney stones
(i) Drinking as much as 1.5 to 2.5 liters a day may help flush out your urinary system. This will also allow small stones to pass through.
(ii) Visit washrooms regularly and empty your bladder when you feel like doing urination.
(iii) Please take fruits like apple, papaya, watermelon, pineapple, sweetlime, bananas and orange, vegetables like, white gourd, ladyfinger, pumpkin, pulses and legumes.
(v) If you have sharp pain then you should consult your doctor and take pain reliever medications under strict supervision.

DONTs for kidney stones
(i) Please avoid holding urine for long intervals.
(ii) Please reduce foods containing oxalates like non veg, vegetables like spinach, tomato, cauliflower, brinjals, nuts like cashew, pista and almonds.
(iii) Decrease extra salt in foods.
(iv) Avoid spicy pickles.
(v) Please eat meat products in normal amounts, avoid eating too much.

It will be good if you can get another ultrasound scan after 6 months to know the size of cyst in left kidney and the stones also.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
