Question: Hello,
I am 50 years female
I have problem of irregular periods for the past 3 months. For the past 2 months it is occuring more frequently (once in 15 days).
I am a diabetic and my last week glucose levels are 111 (fasting) and 125 (post lunch). I am on medication for the diabetis.
2 months back I had severe problem of very low hemoglobin levels (less than 4) and I was advised to take intra venus injections 5 times in 2 weeks and now last week it came out to be normal and it is now showing 13.2.
Please advise what could be the problem so that my problem of irregular and frequent periods problem is stopped.

Brief Answer:
progesterone deficiency in luteal phase.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
Polymenorrhoea is frequent menses and if the menses are heavy, its called polymenorrhagia and at 50 years of age, there is likely to be progesterone deficiency for the luteal phase of the cycle. You need to get a day 16 serum progesterone level and if possible an endometrial biopsy to check for endometrial hyperplasia or if the endometrium remains in the proliferative phase. If there is no atypia then you shall require cyclical progesterone therapy from day 16 -25 of your cycle and your menses shall get regulated. please meet your dgynecologist and discuss these options and take an informed decision.
