Question : have a post nasal drip cough, had it off and on for 1 year, bad coughing, clearing throat, etc

An infective cause such as sinusitis needs to be looked for. ENT doctor can examine you accordingly and advise an x ray or CT para nasal sinuses to rule out or confirm sinusitis. Antibiotics with nasal decongestants and nasal corticosteroids can be advised for treatment accordingly.
