Suggest Treatment For Post Nasal Drip And Throat Irritation

Question: Hello,

I have had post nasal drip and throat irritation now for six months following either a viral or bacterial throat infection with antibiotics. Could this be a food allergy? What would be the most reliable food testing?

. Is post nasal drip seasonal or perennial?
. Any direct effect of toxin: cigarette smoking?
. Any other feature present: difficult breathing- coughing - weight loss- family history?
. Any opinion of an Allergist (skin specialist) taken? If yes what were the medicine recommended and for how much duration?

1. If your doctor thinks it to be due to food then he might go for:

. Skin prick test
. Blood test for presence of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) to common food item
