Question: I have seen a doctor twice in the last 3 months. I have had a cough and was diagnosed with acute bronchitis. I hae been on antibiotics twice in the past 2 months, had everything from Claritin, nasal sprays, etc,. and no results. I feel fine except I have this constant throat tickle and am embarassed because I have to cough intermittently. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Dear Madam
Cough secondary to throat trickle is likely to be due to post nasal drip from the sinus into the nasopharynx.
In the absence of fever and chest being clear both clinically and by X ray there seems to be no cause for concern.
I would suggest you the following which will definitely help
1. Warm saline gargling : To a glass of lukewarm water add two spoon of common table salt. Gargle throat with it thrice a day.
2. Steam inhalation : 15 to 20 minutes each session twice a day will be helpful.
3. Decoction: To a cup of milk + 10 Tulsi leaves (Holy basel if available ) + 2 black pepper + 1 spoon of turmeric + 2 gm of fresh ginger + 2 spoon of sugar. Bring it to boil. Filter it and consume it hot thrice a day. It will be very soothening to the throat and will be helpful.
4. 2 drop of fresh lemon juice to a spoon of honey. Take it twice a day.
Apart from antibiotic these home remedies will definitely be helpful.
Take care
