Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Looking at your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Postural variation in blood pressure is normal.
2. Light headedness during postural change, specifically from sleeping to sitting or sitting to standing is normal. This is called as "Postural hypotension". Due to baro-receptor reduced functioning, blood pressure does not get adjusted immediately and reduced blood reaches the brain. This low blood and hence, low oxygenation leads to light headedness.
3. Blood pressure in sitting position or sleeping position is important. Anything less than 140/90 is good for your age. Mild systolic raise will be seen during activity and standing is one of them. Not to worry.
4. For Postural hypotension, you need to move slowly during change of position. Avoid rapid change of position. Take good amount of fluids. If excessive, you might require venous stocking for legs.
5. At present, it is light and slow movement during change of position should be adequate.
You are not getting lightheadedness due to high blood pressure, rather it is postural hypotension.
Do not stop medications. Continue with moderate exercises and nutritional diet.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
