Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Calculus In Subgingival Region Of Gum

Posted on Mon, 20 Jul 2015
Question: My two front bottom teeth are wearing away from the inside, bottom up - they will soon have the root exposed and then I will surely lose them. Is there anything I can do to slow down the process - brushing now seems to accelerate it. I've not been to the dentist in 20 years because I'm afraid the first thing he'll do is scrape the area and they will fall out

I have read your query and understand your concern . As far as wearing of tooth is concerned it can be due to deposition of food debris and calculus in subgingival region of gum resulting in gingival recession (exposure of root) and mobility.

Can you upload the image of tooth that will be more helpful for me to arrive at conclusion and give you proper treatment plan . You have feature to upload image by yourself on right side of query page . please utilize it . Alternatively you can mail the images to YYYY@YYYY with subject line as 'Attention to Dr. Priyanka Tiwari'.

Based on detail provided I will suggest you to consult Periodontist for clinical examination and radiograph for evaluation . Dont be afraid . Consult Periodontist and discuss the treatment plan .
Gingival recession and tooth mobiliy can be treated with periodontal flap surgery and splinting . Inmeantime avoid vigrous horizontal brushing . Use soft bristle brush . Do warm saline rinses . On gums you can apply gum paint like stolin gum paint . Use chlorhexidine mouthwash regulary.

Awating for pictures to comment further .
