Suggest Treatment For Protruding Gums In A Child
Question: Since my baby was born, I noticed extra tissue on her upper lip which made her bottom lip look extremely pulled back. As she got older (now she's 5 1/2 months old w/no sign of teething), it started to look better but I can't help but notice that it looks like her gums are protruding more than her bottom lip. My father and an overbite and I did too (extremely bad..I couldn't close my mouth without my FOUR front teeth protruding out). My concer is that she probably will have the same issue and I can't stop stressing over it...part of me prays it's all in my head and she's fine but I have a horrible feeling she will suffer like I did.
I asked her pediatrician about her gums and she wasn't worried (4 month appointment). But again, she doesn't have teeth yet so it's a little hard to tell...
Anyone have any advise?? I'd love to hear from someone who can relate or seen this before. Thank you for you're time.

Brief Answer:
RETROGNATHIA has to be excluded
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for posting in Health care Maagic.
I feel your concern. The thing you are talking about may be an abnormality of jaw bone and related gum and teething structure.
Here one possibility according to your description is RETROGNATHIA (teeth problem due to abnormal position of jaw) which needs to b excluded.
If you have a family background of dental anomaly then the chances of this misaligned denture formation is possible.
This is a dental problem which requires correction, some surgical procedures may be required. Take the baby to a pediatric dental surgeon who will guide you best and will do the needful.
thank you
