Suggest Treatment For Pseudobulbar Palsy
Depends on complications!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this condition that your sister in law has. Truly, it has no treatment and in most cases it is progressive. The condition all by itself is not fatal but what kills depends on the specific complication that sets in. For example, if the patient should develop difficulties swallowing, feeding becomes a problem. This leads to poor nutrition and possible recurrent lung infections. This is what would cause complications and death and not the diagnosis of pseudo-bulbar palsy itself.
So, unless complication start setting in, we can not accurately comment on the longevity of a patient. Should complications set in, then we can start talking o possible shorter lifespans.
In all, her lifespan would depend on disease progression. For now, co complication suggests that it would be shortened. Let's be patient and make the right calls when we have suggestive information.
I hope this helps. I wish your sister in law the best of all possible outcomes. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
