Brief Answer:
Tongue muscle spasm...requires muscle relaxants...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

The tongue muscle spasm is frequently encountered by many individuals irrespective of the age.

This is commonly noticed while yawning. Some muscles attached to the tongue and the mandible undergo spasm, thus causing severe pain.

Oral muscle relaxants such as tizanidine or orphenadrine can be tried along with an anti inflammatory medicine.

Gentle physiotherapy can be tried by bringing both thumbs on either side and an inch behind your chin. Then press into the muscle just inside of the chin muscle. Now relax your body by taking a deep breath and exhaling. After a minute, slowly open your mouth all the way, then release the pressure off the muscles but continue to hold your mouth open for another 30 seconds. This procedure helps in relieving the pain and spasm.

Hope I have answered your query; I'll be available for the follow up queries.
